$10 Dresser

Upon driving home this summer from one of my sons many baseball games, I spotted this dresser on the side of the road. It was marked $10! I squished all the kids together, and threw down the car seats and somehow it fit. Luckily, we only had a 5 minute ride home! It was UGLY and a couple of drawers were in bad shape. But it didn't matter, I wasn't going to use all of them. Here was my process: 1. Sanded down and vacuumed 2. Removed and cleaned old hardware 3. Filled in any cracks with putty 4. 2 generous coats of KILZ 5. 2 coats of Aqua Mist, from Walmart BHG line, semi-gloss 6. Spray painted hardware white 7. Found two baskets to fit in the drawer openings! Love my $10 find! And the finished project:

Ceiling Fan Makeover

Thanks to Thrifty Deor Chick, I replaced the very dusty glass shades on my ceiling fan! Found the right size shade at Walmart (after one return to World Market), it wasn't as big as I thought it would be! Followed these directions: http://thriftydecorchick.blogspot.com/2011/04/prettying-up-ceiling-fan.html Love how it changed the whole look of the fan and my famiy room!
