$10 Dresser
Upon driving home this summer from one of my sons many baseball games, I spotted this dresser on the side of the road. It was marked $10! I squished all the kids together, and threw down the car seats and somehow it fit. Luckily, we only had a 5 minute ride home!
It was UGLY and a couple of drawers were in bad shape. But it didn't matter, I wasn't going to use all of them. Here was my process:
1. Sanded down and vacuumed
2. Removed and cleaned old hardware
3. Filled in any cracks with putty
4. 2 generous coats of KILZ
5. 2 coats of Aqua Mist, from Walmart BHG line, semi-gloss
6. Spray painted hardware white
7. Found two baskets to fit in the drawer openings!
Love my $10 find!
And the finished project:
Ceiling Fan Makeover
Thanks to Thrifty Deor Chick, I replaced the very dusty glass shades on my ceiling fan! Found the right size shade at Walmart (after one return to World Market), it wasn't as big as I thought it would be! Followed these directions: http://thriftydecorchick.blogspot.com/2011/04/prettying-up-ceiling-fan.html
Love how it changed the whole look of the fan and my famiy room!

Sunburst Mirror
My sunburst mirror cost only pennies thanks to the help of Centsational Girl, here's the link:
http://www.centsationalgirl.com/2011/04/diy-paint-stick-sunburst-mirror/
Helpful tip- I glued everything with my hot glue gun, way easier than the gorilla glue she suggests! I also used a 10x10 unfinished wood frame found at JoAnn's in the wood isle. I used the back side of the frame to build the mirror and the picture opening was used to hang the mirror, perfect!
